The 26/27 League One Preview: Part Two

Doncaster, Huddersfield, Leicester, Leyton Orient, Luton and Mansfield

It was a weekend of Carabao Cup action to kick off the 2026/27 season, but the real stuff starts next week. Moving the first round of England’s secondary domestic cup competition to a Saturday before the league action kicks off has been met by mixed reviews. Is it a perfect bridge from pre-season to proper league football, a competitive game but it’s no disaster if you come out on the wrong end of it? Or is it just a damp squib, lacking the proper excitement of the first time you return home for meaningful football after a long summer?

Either way, United will be boosted by the win against well-fancied League Two Barnet, and attentions very quickly turn to Wigan at home on Saturday.
