Breaking down the big moments that led to United's promotion
Rome, famously, wasn’t built in a day. Unsurprisingly, it took far longer to construct one of the world’s most ornate, powerful and important cities. Something else that was just as ornate, powerful and important was Cambridge United’s 2025/26 League Two campaign. And, in another striking similarity, the success of Neil Harris’ fourth-tier-conquering U’s took a season’s worth of growth to eventually reach its glorious conclusion.
Like every promotion, United’s was built from the first kick of pre-season in July (and even before) all the way through to the final whistle at Crewe. One good month does not equal success; it’s a long, sustained and often arduous journey. But what were the biggest moments in that story that led to our success? What were the crucial turning points and the decisive moments?
