Taylor Made
Greg Taylor celebrates a decade at the Abbey Stadium tonight with his testimonial against West Ham, and there's no denying he's been a huge part of the successes United have had over the years, cementing his legendary status as a part of the side that's won two promotions, one FA Trophy and involved in a number of cup upsets along the way.
To show our appreciation to Greg, here's a few of our favourite moments.
1) - *That* goal against Crewe
We never knew he had it in him! Luke Berry's reaction says it all after Greg scored his first goal for United against Crewe back in 2016.
2) Leading United to promotion after being written off by UTAS
Err... yeah, not our finest moment as we confidently predicted "you won't get promoted with Greg Taylor in defence" in our season preview pod back in 2022. Well Greg proved us all wrong by being a rock at the heart of the U's backline, captaining us to a second place finish under Mark Bonner (even though he did nearly prove us right against Harrogate)
3) Doing 'UTAS Meets'
We love Greg, we really do, so it was an honour to have him on the pod way back in 2018 where he talked about Richard Money, surpassing 200 appearances for the U's, and some of the clobber the lads wore
4) The Players Tribute to Greg Against Burton
See that, that's only Wes Hoolahan, one of the greatest players to ever wear the Black & Amber holding up a Greg Taylor shirt. That's what Greg means to these guys, as part of the team for almost ten years now Greg has proved a popular figure in the dressing room throughout, earning the respect of team mates such as Luke Chadwick, Harry Darling and Wessi himself.
5) Being a Mainstay of United for Over 350 Games - Mr Cambridge United
Lets face it - you don't play over 350 games for a club if you're not a bit decent. Greg has reinvented himself numerous times, proved numerous doubters wrong, and played in almost every position across the back four (as well as a couple of spells in midfield) for the U's. Make no mistake - he's a U, and a proper legend of the club. Congrats Greg, you deserve this.
