Shrewsbury (A): Match Preview
Three weeks into the transfer window and Bonz and Strang have had plenty of time to strengthen the areas of the squad that need it before we travel West to Shrewsbury. Right? Wrong. Like Goldilocks, Bonner is still waiting for the exact right type of player to come along, rather than adding much needed numbers to the squad like all our relegation rivals have. Only time will tell if this decision proves to be correct.
Last week's weather-enforced break gave a few players time to get a bit nearer fitness, most notably new signing Ryan Bennett, who's still probably not ready to start, and Fejiri Okenabirhie, who is - although whether or not he lasts the 90 remains to be seen. Other than that it's as you were for United, pick any eleven from the twelve remaining fit players we have.
Expected U's Line-Up: Mannion, Williams, Okedina, Taylor, L Bennett, Digby, Worman, Knibbs, Brophy, Smith, Ironside
Who's Their Player To Watch? Ryan Bowman. A constant pain in the arse for us when he was at Exeter. Still only 31, he knows where the goal is.
Who's In The Dugout? Steve Cotterill. Seems to have managed half the EFL, with plenty of success including winning promotion from Leagues One and Two.
What's Their Recent Form Like? Won two, lost three.
Any Ex-United Players? Nope
Last Time Out: U's 2-1 Shrewsbury, 26 December 2022
A win for United on Boxing Day was much-needed. Another tomorrow is needed even more.
From The Archive: Shrewsbury 0-1 U's, 30 August 2016
Joe Piggott with probably the easiest goal he'll ever score, although he still made hard work of it.
