Anyone order another routine away win?

It was only a few weeks ago that the team bottom of League Two inflicted an eyebrow-raising defeat on United, the division’s form side at the time – who hadn’t not won, let alone lost, a league game since Boxing Day. The U’s wouldn’t make the same mistake twice.

Saturday’s win away at Newport County, the new occupiers of the EFL’s 72nd spot, continued an excellent response from that aberration in North Yorkshire, which seemingly like our previous visit there is a game that refuses to lose its relevance and stubbornly won’t be forgotten. Since then, United have now won 3 and drawn 1, notably scoring nine goals across those games. The test of how we would respond to our first defeat? If it hadn’t already been passed, it’s now been confirmed with flying colours.

Saturday also points to another longer-term growth that we’ve all seen come to fruition over the past few weeks and months. The late-summer version of Harris’ United struggled to both score many goals, and pick up points away from home – at one point residing as low as 19th in that particular table. A 2-0 away win backing up a 3-0 away win goes some way to showing how well we’ve done to turn that on its head, to a point where we are now 4th in the away table. Some turnaround.

On the afternoon itself, it was also much of the same. Comfortable, efficient, and controlled.
