If you’re anything like me, the last thing you’ll want to do a few days after Saturday’s dismal defeat to Leyton Orient is relive it. There was plenty of excitement going into the fixture as United were backed by the first of two back-to-back sell-out away ends. But it was about as disappointing an afternoon as one can remember under Neil Harris’ stewardship. And all of that makes this a very tough report to write.
The other thing that makes this a tough task is to try and balance out the correct amount of negativity. As football fans, we find it easier than most to get carried away. When things are going well, we’ll dream of Championship promotions with the season not even 10 games old. When there’s a blip in form, conclusions are instantly made that United simply aren’t up to play-off level and a big drop off approaches.
