Well, that was a busy end to the transfer window, wasn’t it? There was a few weeks there where it’s fair to say a good amount of panic set in across the fanbase. From the outside, it felt increasingly like we were struggling to land our primary targets in what looked, in fairness, a difficult market this summer. Especially for a team of United’s statue in League One. But like London buses, once one signing came, the others soon followed.
And it started with a young centre-half in the shape of Cathal Heffernan. United signed the big defender on a four-year-deal from Harrogate, continuing their new-look recruitment strategy that we’ve seen this summer. The transfer window SLAMMED shut on Tuesday evening, not long after Ben Knight had found the bottom corner to secure all three points for United at Bradford.
