It’s been a few weeks since United raised the curtain on their 2026 summer transfer business. The debut signing of the window is always an exciting moment; it’s the first peek into what the team you’re going to watch for the next 12 months might look like and an introduction to a potential new hero to obsess over. Change is often a good thing, and never does it feel that way more than in a transfer window.
This season’s first signing did a good job at injecting an extra dose of excitement. Probably more so than any in recent memory.
Callum Stead joins United on a free transfer from Barnet. He signs a two-year-deal at the Abbey and kicks off what will inevitably be a busy summer of business.
